“your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.”

Matthew 6:10

When Jesus taught us how to pray, He gave us keys to his kingdom, here on earth. What a powerful declaration! I don’t know about you, but it wasn’t until after repeating this prayer many times that the significance of it was explained to me. There is no sickness in Heaven, Lord, your kingdom come. There is no fear and anxiety in God’s kingdom, your kingdom come on earth. There is no despair or loneliness in Heaven, God, your kingdom come. There is no war, strife, darkness in Heaven, God your kingdom come. Because there is limitless glory, beauty, and power in God’s kingdom, there is no limit to how we can declare and pray that those things manifest on Earth.

As we pray these words each day, God has been impressing upon my heart that there is an activation component to this prayer, meaning there is a part for us to play in God’s kingdom coming to this earth. We pray as Jesus taught us, “Lord, your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” Yet, do we even know to recognize what that looks like? Do we know what a world, a nation, a situation, a life would even mean if God’s glory is fully realized in that situation?

What if we simply start each day asking the Lord, what would a world look like if your kingdom transformed it? What resources of Heaven are lacking in this ___ situation? In this family? In this nation? These things are not always clear unless we have heavenly perspective. God is faithful, that if we desire to see the things of the Spirit, He will awaken our senses to another dimension. Just as Jesus mentioned how the world can make us callous, or de-sensitized to Him, He can awaken our senses if our hearts are turned to Him, “But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear” (Matt. 13:16).

As we begin to see a world desperately in need of the things of God and resources of Heaven, as God’s children we can become the Delta Force of those needed changes. “Delta Force” has been something impressed on my spirit recently and often, and even heard some else mention this very same concept too. The Delta Force is most known for being an elite fighting unit in the Army, AND of the same name, it is a Chuck Norris movie about a hijacked plane in the '80s. (If you’re ever up late, I highly encourage it for patriotic inspiration and some entertainment ;) ) Yet, I would propose there is another connotation, for those of you math lovers. Delta is a difference between two values, and when applied to a practical, earthly situation, it is world as it is versus the world as it could be when God’s kingdom transforms it. We are that difference; we bridge the gap between the way the world is and God’s transformation of it. Often, it is much easier to accept that “things never change”, that it “will always be this way.” What a shame that the enemy will deceive us that these situations, the current climate in our nation will always be this way.

Let us be encouraged that we are a “Delta Force” as we pray each day, Lord, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We are heavenly “matchmakers” bringing the resources of Heaven to those earthly places in need. We are the light bearers bringing light to darkness. We speak to a hopeless situation and declare the promises of God. We speak to places of lack and declare that our God is a God of abundance and provision. We speak to places of darkness and our presence carries His light. We are the light of the world, His city on a Hill (Matt. 5:14-16). May our eyes be open to how we live this out daily.

Reflection Questions:

What are some areas of your life where God can open your eyes to see what His kingdom could transform?

Where do you feel like God is calling to you carry his Kingdom?

What are specific resources of Heaven that God has given you access to for that situation? (Example: hope, healing, restoration, transformation)

Guided Prayer

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one."

Lord, we ask that you open our eyes to see a world in desperate need of you.

Thank you for giving us power and authority, in your Name,

That we might bring the necessary changes to any situation.

There is no shortage of provision, no shortage of power, no shortage of Glory in your Name,

And we declare that any situation can be transformed by your Kingdom.

Thank you for allowing us to partner with you and show us how to be your Delta Force.
